Some believe the world will become a better place before Jesus Christ returns, and that through the efforts of believers the earth will be made ready for the King. According to Jesus Christ this is incorrect, things will get worse before they get better. In Mark 13 we find that Jesus shared some troubles to expect before His return to earth.
- Pretenders and False Prophets – there will be many falsely claiming to be Christ or sent from God. Beware and examine all teachings with the Bible.
- Provocations – the world will be filled with wars and strife.
- Perils – famines and earthquakes will be widespread.
- Persecution – God’s people will be subject to terrible treatment, including death.
- Pollution – wicked and sinful behavior, which is far more dangerous to a nation than the physical pollution of the environment.
- Phenomena – the sun, moon, and stars will do strange things. This will affect the earth.
This unstable world will not be made better for Christ’s return but will become a better place because of His presence. Let’s remain faithful to Jesus Christ as we wait and watch for His return.
