Look to the LORD when Troubled

January 4, 2024

The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. Psalm 11:4

In the midst of trials it can be tempting to think that you are alone and forsaken. You might wonder if God cares or even exists. Why is this? Because when troubled it becomes easy to focus on problems instead of looking to God. The more time you spend thinking about your difficulty, and less time with God, the easier it is to doubt, worry, and fear.

When troubled, David immediately thought upon God. David looked upon Him as the LORD of Heaven, implying that God is Lord over all the earth. Although the LORD was out of sight, He was still there. God never left His place on the throne and He did not forget about David. David was sure that the LORD remained in His place of power and this certainty is what provided stability for his life, even in the midst of his great troubles. When there is no stability in life there will be concerns followed by fears. These fears can lead to rash and foolish decisions. With God there is stability. You can be confident knowing that He will work all things out for good.

Today the LORD remains in His holy temple and His throne is in Heaven. Let that encourage your heart as you live for Him.
