Trusting in the LORD

August 31, 2023

In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? Psalm 11:1

David had a decision to make. Would he trust in the LORD or in someone, or something, else?

It seems as though David had been tempted to place his faith elsewhere. Where did this advice come from? Perhaps it was given to him by a family member or close friend. Out of love they might have encouraged David to run away to find safety. The problem, God wanted David to remain where he was and to trust in His strength. It’s also possible David’s own heart tempted him, his fears and worries weakening his faith. What should he do? Where should he go?

David made his decision. He resolved to put his trust in God. David would rely upon the LORD to protect him from his troubles and to provide his needs. David refused to flee from his problems. Instead, he waited on God for help and was blessed.

Life is filled with difficulties and you might be tempted, or even encouraged, to seek help away from God. Remember, with the LORD you will find strength to endure and power to overcome your trials, troubles, and temptations.

Every day determine to look to God and to live by faith.
